Update #1
While I was writing the previous post, a new story came out that confirms the existence of more missing votes due to a “software error”:
Today, three days after the election, officials in Calhoun County, Michigan announced the discovery of thousands of absentee ballots that hadn’t been tallied due to a “software error.”
Twelve precincts from the city of Battle Creek, Michigan experienced the technical issue. About 4,000 votes were incorrectly reported.
The missing votes may impact a Michigan state legislature race, in which the Democratic candidate was thought to be 1,381 votes behind his Republican challenger.
Officials say the error is in the process of being corrected.
How many more missing ballots are out there, waiting to be found? If 4,000 ballots were incorrectly tabulated in just one of Michigan’s 83 counties, that could represent over 300,000 votes if the issue is consistent across the state. Former President Donald Trump only leads Vice President Kamala Harris by about 80,000 votes in Michigan.
